Investigation of Clarion student’s death continues

From staff reports

An investigation into the death of a Clarion University student earlier this month is continuing.

Katrina Seaburn, 22, of Curwensville, died March 3 of a gunshot wound to the chest after an incident at Hartzell’s Trailer Court in Lake Lucy.

Seaburn was a senior accounting major, and she was also a majorette at the university.

Clarion state police said at the time of the incident that they believed the shooting to be accidental.

Clarion County coroner Terry Shaffer said Monday an autopsy was completed at the Erie County coroner’s office last month. Shaffer attributed the cause of death to the gunshot wound.

Shaffer said a decision about whether to file charges will be up to state police and district attorney Mark Aaron.

Phone calls to the barracks and the DA’s office weren’t returned Monday.
