Hundreds of coats, shoes, boots distributed to kids

From staff reports

Keystone Coats for Kids announced it has distributed 433 coats, 212 pairs of tennis shoes and 169 pairs of boots this year to kids in need of the items.

“I would like to send a huge ‘thank you’ to everyone who donated to the Keystone Coats for Kids ninth annual coat drive,” Coats for Kids founder Glenda Raybuck said. “If it were not for the generosity of the community and the McElhattan Foundation, this would not have been possible.

“In 2015, when I started this project, I was not sure how many years I could continue this coat drive. It would all depend on how the community would respond. The community just keeps giving; so, I keep the coats coming.”

Over the past nine years there have been 4,052 coats, 496 pairs of tennis shoes and 274 pairs of boots distributed, according to Raybuck. All the coats and shoes are purchased through Operationwarm.org.

“Over the years I have worked with all the schools and Head Start programs in Clarion County, Clarion County Promise, SAFE, Knox Caring Cupboard, Next Step Therapy, Keystone SMILES, Clarion County Children and Youth, Forest County schools, Community Action and the Clarion Psychiatric Center,” Raybuck said.

Donations may be sent throughout the year to Farmers National Bank, P.O. Box 665, Knox, PA 16232. Make checks payable to Keystone Coats for Kids.

Raybuck said donations for next year would be appreciated by the end of October.
