‘Hope Grows’ grief program set Tuesday

From staff reports

Lisa Story, a licensed professional counselor and certified thanatologist, will present “Hope Grows” from noon to 1:30 p.m. and again from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the multi-purpose room of the Gemmell Student Center on the main campus of Clarion University.

Story holds a master of science degree in counseling psychology from Chatham University. She has a certificate in addictions counseling from Waynesburg University and in horticultural therapy from the Horticultural Therapy Institute in Denver. She has written programs using gardens and nature as a way to understand grief and the elements of self-care while caring for others.

Comfortable clothing is suggested for the program on Tuesday. Participants will take part in a gardening activity and will take their own plant home.

Seating is limited to the first 100 participants for each session and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

The program is part of the Mary L. Seifert Cultural Series. It is free and open to the public.
