CLARION – The Clarion County Historical Society was selected to be the Senior Corps-RSVP volunteer station of the month for March.

The historical society has been a Senior Corps-RSVP station since January 1982.

Historical society executive director Mary Lea Lucas said she considers her work very fulfilling.

“We are always seeking new volunteers to help with tours, research, exhibits and special events. It is a very interesting and fun place to volunteer,” Lucas said.

Senior Corps-RSVP recognized three volunteers for their years of service with the society including Harry Nulph Jr. with 17 years, Karen Slack with nine years and Robert Slack with nine years.

“I enjoy meeting people and doing research at the Historical Society,” Nulph said.

“I enjoy being here and helping Mary Lea in the office,” Karen Slack added.

Both Nulph and Karen Slack have helped with special events held at the Historical Society such as a wake honoring Thomas Sutton, Victorian tea parties, bridal showers and even a wedding.
