The sixth annual Heart for Uganda walkathon will be held Saturday, Sept. 22, in Leeper.
The event is a fundraiser for an orphanage in Uganda.
Registration for the walkathon will start at 9 a.m. and the walk will commence at 10 a.m. Registration costs $25.
The event will be held at a private park located behind Kahle’s Kitchens in Leeper. The wooded park features wide trails that are suitable for walking or running. Families with strollers or wagons or those who may have difficulty with rough terrain should find the trails easy to navigate, according to Lori Sandrock, who is organizing the fundraiser.
Those who participate also may enjoy games and activities for children, a Chinese auction, goodie bags and refreshments. “The walkathon is an excellent way to spend wholesome time in the beautiful fall weather with family and friends enjoying scenery and camaraderie, all while raising money for a wonderful cause,” Sandrock said.
