The fourth annual Heart for Uganda walkathon will be held on Saturday, Sept. 17. This year’s event will be held in a private park in Leeper with registration beginning at 9 a.m. and the walk starting at 10 a.m. Friendly pets on a leash may attend the event. Music will be provided by Next O’Kin the Weckerly Family. Heart for Uganda is a local grassroots organization that was formed in 2008 when Alissa Cooper-Sande left her elementary teaching position at Clarion-Limestone to travel to Kyenjojo, Uganda to start an orphanage.
