Four men charged in New Bethlehem assault

Four New Bethlehem-area men have been charged with aggravated assault in the alleged March 19 beating of a male victim.

Gary Dylan Rhodes, 23, Mayport; Brett Allen Lee, 36, Fairmount City; Anthony Lynn Ortz, 23, New Bethlehem; and Braxton Richard Orr, 23, New Bethlehem, are all charged with a single count of aggravated assault and conspiracy to commit aggravated assault, a first-degree felony; reckless endangerment of another person, simple assault and conspiracy to commit simple assault, all second-degree misdemeanors; disorderly conduct as a third-degree misdemeanor; and harassment, a summary offense, at 1:15 a.m. March 18 outside Ditty’s Bar in New Bethlehem.

According to court documents, there was an alleged altercation between the victim’s father and another individual inside the bar and the victim and his father were told to leave the bar.

The four defendants allegedly followed the victim and his father outside to the parking lot where they allegedly started a confrontation with the victim and the victim’s father.

The victim was kicked in the face as he attempted to get up from the ground.

According to court documents, the victim needed surgery to correct a fractured jaw. The victim also suffered bruises, cuts and an injury to his eye, bleeding from his ears and injuries to his mouth.

Each of the defendants was arraigned by District Judge Jeff Miller and placed in the Clarion County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail.
