Forest courthouse to be closed for 2 weeks

From staff reports

The Forest County Courthouse will be closed to the public for two weeks beginning Monday.

County commissioner Bob Snyder said the action is being taken as a precaution after several family members of courthouse staff tested positive for the coronavirus.

Snyder said that as of Friday no courthouse employees had tested positive though several were being tested for the virus.

Snyder said the county is going back to conducting business like it did earlier in the year when the courthouse was closed.

Minimal staff will still be at the courthouse, and business can still be handled by phone, Snyder said.

The state Department of Health announced Friday that Forest County reported 20 new cases of COVID-19 (18 confirmed and two probable), nearly doubling the number of cases previously reported in the county.

Forest County, the state said, now has a cumulative total of 51 cases (43 confirmed and eight probable).
