Forest commissioners address several matters

Forest County commissioners dealt with a few matters at their meeting Wednesday.

The commissioners approved an agreement between the county and Tionesta Borough for the replacement of 730 linear feet of storm sewer lines along Elm Street in Tionesta.

The storm sewer improvements are funded by a $121,864 Appalachian Regional Commission grant to the county.

The project will involve updating the storm sewer lines on the east and west sides of Elm Street between Church Street and Highland Street in Tionesta, according to Bailey Thompson, the county’s Community Development Block Grant coordinator.

The commissioners approved a contract with Warren County to house prisoners from Forest County in the Warren County jail at a cost of $60 per day per inmate.

Chief clerk Lynette Greathouse said there is no change in the cost of housing prisoners this year.

The commissioners also approved a new policy, effective immediately, that all new county employees must undergo a drug test at the county’s expense before they are hired.

County employees must also undergo a drug test if they are in a crash involving a county vehicle, the commissioners said.
