Forest Area students in mock trial

Driving while under the influence of alcohol remains one of the leading causes of death among young adults in the United States, and in an effort to educate students on this illegal practice, a mock trial was held at the Forest County Courthouse. Forest Area Ninth and tenth grade students competed against one another in the fictional trial of Foley versus Welby. Magisterial District Judge Daniel L. Miller presided over the event. Following the trial students received a tour of the courthouse and the jail. The county’s dedicated employees were extremely gracious with their time, helping students gain a deeper understanding of the law and its impact on everyday lives. (Submitted photo)
