Fire marshal investigating Clarion Co. blaze

The origin of a fire that broke out inside a woodshop Saturday afternoon at 904 Gowdy Road in Washington Township, Clarion County, is still unknown, according to Marienville state police.

The fire was discovered around 2:25 p.m. Saturday after a neighbor called to report the blaze, police said.

Flames were venting from the eaves on both sides of the building, police said.

Washington Township volunteer firefighters responded to the scene and had the fire under control within 20 minutes, police said.

A state police fire marshal said the cause of the blaze isn’t known. There was electricity in the building, but it is unknown if it played a part in the fire’s origin, police said.

Damages are estimated at $40,000, according to police.

The owner wasn’t home at the time of the incident, and no injuries were reported, police said.
