Fire destroys Baughman’s Market in Marienville

Baughman’’s Market in Marienville was destroyed by a 10:20 p.m. March 4 fire. Marienville Volunteer Fire Department Chief Greg Geyer requested a state police fire marshal investigation into the blaze which started on the second floor of the business. The cause of the fire is yet unknown and a damage estimate was not available at press time. Firefighters from Marienville, Farmington and Washington townships, Clarion, Shippenville and Sheffield responded to the blaze. There were no reported injuries. The Baughman family has owned and operated a market in Marienville since 1892. A fire destroyed the Baughmans’’ store in late January of 2000 as well.
