Facelift at Dan Smith’s in Clarion

There was some activity Wednesday in downtown Clarion as work was continuing at Dan Smith’s Candies and Gifts on Main Street.

Co-owner Lisa Heller was working at the register and said the owners had decided to remove the metal storefront from the building to restore the original brick facade.

Heller said the metal siding on the front of the building dates back many decades, and once it was removed, the windows on the second floor allowed more light into the upstairs where antique vendors are displaying their items.

John Bradford, owner of English/Amish Built Metal Roofs, was hired to restore the facade.

Some of his crew began work Monday and were hoping to wrap up by the end of the day on Wednesday.
