Event raises $16,000 for Sunshine Project

From staff reports

The second annual Cruise For The Cure brought in $16,000 for the Sunshine Project, a program of Clarion Hospital’s Cancer Center, according to a news release from Clarion Hospital.

About 150 cars were featured at the event, which was held Aug. 15 at Clarion County Airport and held in memory of Clancy Schmader and Bob Haines.

Donations were collected from Clarion and surrounding counties.

The Sunshine Project, a nonprofit, was incorporated at the end of 2015 and has since paid $250,000 in medical bills for cancer patents in need.

Next year’s event is scheduled June 26 at the airport.
