From staff reports

EDINBORO – Edinboro University’s student-run newspaper, “The Spectator,” captured four Student Keystone Press Awards, including first place for best website.

In addition to best website, awards were captured in the following categories:

  • Editorial: Emma Giering of Clarion received honorable mention for “Our Viewpoint.” Giering is a junior English-writing major.
  • Ongoing News Coverage: Logan Lilly of Cambridge Springs earned second place for “Karlee Dies,” for “Edinboro shooting 10-month investigation.”
  • Feature Story: Tracy Geibel of Butler took second place for “Mysterious, inspiring notes stick across campus restrooms.”

The Student Keystone Press Awards recognize college and high school journalism that demonstrates “relevance, integrity and initiative in serving readers,” according to the Pennsylvania News Media Association, which sponsors the competition.

The contest is open to any student at any Pennsylvania university, college or high school. Edinboro competed in PNMA’s Division II, which includes colleges and universities with fewer than 10,000 students.
