‘Downtown’ gears up for holidays

From staff reports

It’s “Dress-Up for the Holiday’s” time along Clarion’s Main Street for the upcoming Christmas Season.

Destination Clarion Downtown is adding wreaths from the Fourth to the Seventh avenues intersections.

“Last year through generous gifts from caring citizens, DCD was able to purchase snowflakes for the first phase of this project,” said DCD chairman Jim Crooks. “We welcome your help again to help beautify the town with 30 wreathes. Your gift of $100 will sponsor a wreath. It’s time to bedazzle our downtown.”

Clarion Borough Council Nov. 1 approved free parking downtown for Nov. 22; Nov. 26; and Dec. 1 through 24.

Meters will be “bagged” with coverings reading “Happy Holidays from Clarion Borough Council” “Free two-hour parking” from Dec. 7 through 24.

“Watch for upcoming events from the Greater Area Clarion Area Chamber of Commerce, including an ‘Ugly Sweater Parade’ downtown, Saturday, Dec. 4 with Santa’s arrival,” said Crooks.

Supporting donations can be mailed to Destination Clarion Downtown, Box 487, Clarion, Pa 16214, ATTN: Jim Crooks or dropped off at FL Crooks along Main Street.
