Cyphert is ALF parade grand marshal

Dylan Cyphert, a Clarion native and Cranberry High School graduate who is pitching in the Miami Marlins farm system, will be the grand marshal of the Autumn Leaf Festival parade.

Cyphert, 21, was born in Clarion. He is a 2015 graduate of Cranberry High School, where he was a four-year letterman and all-conference pitcher from 2012 to 2015.

He is the son of Dave and Mary Cyphert of Brooksville, Florida, and the grandson of Dave and Bonnie Cyphert and the late Edward and Anastasia Osterried, former Clarion residents.

Recognized as Keystone Shortway Athletic Conference MVP for his junior and senior seasons, he amassed 403 career strikeouts in 2016 innings with a 23-6 win/loss record and led the Berries to the District 9 Class AA Championship in his senior season.

He was a two-year starter at Gulf Coast State College in Panama City, Florida, logging 126 innings and 123 strikeouts in 24 appearances for the Commodores.

Cyphert was drafted by the Marlins in the 2017 Major League Baseball draft.
