From staff reports

Democrats

Democratic Party of Clarion County will host a petition signing event from 9 to 11 a.m. on Feb. 23, at the banquet room of the Motel 6, 24 United Drive, Clarion.

On Saturday, Feb. 23, the Democratic Party of Clarion County will host a nomination petition signing for Democratic candidates running in the May 21st primary election.

All Democratic candidates are invited to attend to speak to guests. Brief speeches will begin at 9:30 a.m.

A light breakfast will be served and there is no cost to attend.

RSVPs are not required but are appreciated. To RSVP this event email info@clarioncountydems.com

A donation drive to benefit the Pentz Run Youth Services Independent Living Program will be held at the event. The purpose of this program is to help youth make a smooth transition to adulthood, helping them learn the life skills necessary to interact appropriately and productively with the community.

Republicans

Republican faithful in Clarion County have an opportunity to get a mix of pizza, politicians and petitions at an event to be held Feb. 21, Clarion County GOP chairman Rick Rathfon recently announced.

The event — the party’s annual gathering of registered partisans for petition-signing activity — will be held at the Clarion Oaks Golf club from 6-8 p.m., Rathfon said as he extended an invitation to Republican candidates who seek nominating support to be placed on the ballot for the May 21 primary election.

He added attendees at the event will have pizza and soft drinks provided by the county Republican committee.

While most of the attention in this year’s elections will see tickets headed for county-wide or multi-municipality offices, there will also be a host of more local offices like those for school district directorships or those for township or borough positions, he noted.

For a listing of offices up for election visit the CCRC website.

Area residents are also reminded that the deadline to register to vote for the May 21 primary is April 22.
