County approves travel plaza

The Clarion County Planning Commission June 15 gave its final approval to a major subdivision for a proposed travel plaza in Monroe Township.

The plans for the five-acre plaza include auto and truck fueling and truck fueling and a food court.

The developers of the travel plaza, GJAMS Clarion Holdings LLC., bought the land from Trinity Development in June 2021.

The proposed travel plaza would occupy lots 11 and 12B, located just south of Microtel.

According to the land development application, the travel plaza will include 9,958 square feet with outdoor seating. In addition to the fueling stations there will also be a charging station for electric vehicles, a car wash, a 60-vehicle parking area for cars and 19 total truck parking spaces.

Access to State Route 68 is pending.

Construction is set to begin in August 2022 with the tentative end of construction set for April 2023.

The commission also approved a major subdivision application for Vincent Distefano for three lots in the Deer Run Development in Farmington Township.
