Cook Forest lodge ‘total loss’ after fire

Fire departments from three counties fought a blaze Thursday evening that destroyed the Hominy Ridge Lodge in Cook Forest.

The fire on Route 36 in Barnett Township, Jefferson County, was called in at about 7 p.m., Jefferson County 911 said.

The two-story building was a total loss, said Randy Parrett, chief of Marienville Volunteer Fire Department.

Parrett added that at least one vehicle parked nearby caught on fire.

Several people were home at the time of the fire and got safely out of the building, Parrett said.

No injuries were reported, but four people were displaced by the fire, 911 said.

The scene was cleared at about 10:30 p.m., according to 911.

Fire departments from Marienville, Sigel, Brookville, Pine Creek Township, Corsica and Farmington Township responded to the blaze. Jefferson County EMS ambulance was also on the scene.

A fire marshal from Marienville state police is investigating the blaze.
