Construction almost done at Clarion County YMCA

From staff reports

Construction on the new Clarion County YMCA on Mayfield Road is nearing completion.

Work is expected to be finished by the end of January, and a grand opening is being planned and will be announced to the community in the coming weeks.

“We are very excited for the future of the YMCA in Clarion County,” said Jesse Kelley, the branch director. “Years of work and dedication have gone into making this new YMCA become a reality. It’s finally here and we can hardly wait to open the doors to the community,” Kelley added.

The new full-service YMCA is the first in Clarion County to offer a variety of amenities that have never been available to the community. Those amenities include an indoor walking track, swimming pool with lap lanes, full size gymnasium, inter-generational room, multipurpose room, lobby with fireplace, group exercise studio, large wellness center, weight room and child care center.

New programs that will be available include year round swim lessons and water fitness classes, pickleball, pick-up basketball, programs for older adults, full-day child care including preschool, before and after school programs, and more.

The facility will also offer open swim and gym time for members.

Hours will be expanded when the new facility opens and will be monitored and adjusted based on community needs.

Memberships are on sale now at the current YMCA facility at 15952 Route 322, Clarion. Membership pricing varies and depends on age and membership type.

Questions about memberships can be directed membership coordinator April Dinger by phone or email at (814) 764-3400 or membership@clarionymca.net.

The Clarion County YMCA is a branch of the Scenic Rivers Association, which includes the Oil City YMCA, Clarion County YMCA, Younger Days Child Care and Camp Coffman.
