Clothing drive scheduled at C-L Elementary School

From staff reports

Clarion-Limestone School District is teaming up with Goodwill Industries of North Central Pennsylvania to host a donation drive as a school district fundraiser.

Community members, friends and neighbors are encouraged to drop off donations of gently used clothing at Clarion-Limestone Elementary School between 1 and 3 p.m. and 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, Jan. 17-18, as part of the two-week clothing drive hosted by the school district. Any wearable clothing is acceptable.

“If you can wear it, you can donate it” said Kristie Taylor, elementary school principal.

Clarion-Limestone School District will be paid per pound of clothing collected, from Goodwill. “We are very excited about this partnership. It’s a win-win for both of our organizations,” Taylor continued.

Winter is typically a difficult time for clothing donations. “A January donation drive is helpful as we have a great need in the winter months. I thank the school and community for the willingness and support,” said Nickolas A. Suplizio, Goodwill vice president of donation procurement/development. “We are happy to support a local school district for their efforts,” he said.

Student and parent volunteers will be collecting and sorting the clothing. “Encouraging students to give back to our community helps demonstrate how even little acts can make a big difference and sends a positive message at a young age,” Taylor said.

Proceeds from the event will support district-wide efforts and are not intended for a particular school.

Donations are limited to clothing and shoes. For more information, people may call Clarion-Limestone Elementary School office at (814) 764-6006.
