Clarion YMCA project gets $25,000 donation

CLARION – First United National Bank gave $25,000 to the Clarion County YMCA’s campaign to build a new full-service YMCA.

“It’s pretty obvious that this community has been very supportive of us and this is our opportunity to return the favor,” said FUN Bank president and CEO Scott Daum. “The YMCA is a great cause and something that is needed in this area, so we felt it was appropriate to step up and do our part.”

The donation was presented by Daum as well as Rusty Weaver, a representative of the bank’s board, and Tom Spence, Clarion branch manager.

The full-service Clarion County YMCA will be built near Exit 62 of I-80 and the Clarion Oaks Golf Course.

The new project, among other facilities, will include a swimming pool that will provide lap swimming, therapy, swimming lessons and other year-round recreation activities that traditional YMCA’s provide. An official groundbreaking is expected to be held this year and completion of the project is forecast within approximately 12 to 18 months from groundbreaking.
