Clarion, Venango add 9 combined cases

The state Department of Health on Wednesday announced a combined nine new cases of COVID-19 were reported from Clarion and Venango counties.

Clarion County, the state said, reported six new cases (two confirmed and four probable), Venango County reported three new cases (one confirmed and two probable), and Forest County subtracted one probable case.

Clarion County, the state said, now has a cumulative total of 2,719 cases (1,741 confirmed and 978 probable). The county’s total deaths stand at 86.

Venango County, the state said, now has a cumulative total of 3,431 cases (2,767 confirmed and 664 probable). The county’s total deaths stand at 87.

Forest County, the state said, now has a cumulative total of 1,386 cases (1,331 confirmed and 55 probable). The county’s total deaths stand at 21.

Elsewhere in the region

Mercer County, the state said, reported 14 new cases (seven confirmed and seven probable), giving the county a cumulative total of 8,297 cases (6,589 confirmed and 1,708 probable). The county’s total deaths stand at 242.

Crawford County, the state said, reported two new probable cases and subtracted one confirmed case, giving the county a cumulative total of 6,481 cases (5,155 confirmed and 1,326 probable). The county’s total deaths stand at 138.

Statewide statistics

– The state on Wednesday reported 2,594 new statewide positive cases, 381 fewer than the number reported Tuesday, raising the cumulative total to 955,730 cases (819,783 confirmed and 135,947 probable). There are 25,377 cases among health care workers.

– Statewide there are 1,530 individuals with COVID-19 who are hospitalized, and 313 of those patients are in intensive care units, according to the state.

– Statewide there were 43 new deaths reported Wednesday, raising the total to 24,439, the state said.

Care facilities

– A nursing and personal care facilities list, a cumulative table compiled by the state that is updated daily, shows there were no new cases of COVID-19 reported from the tri-county area.

Venango County, the state said, stands at 317 resident cases, 53 employee cases and 32 deaths among 10 unnamed facilities.

Clarion County, the state said, stands at 243 resident cases, 107 employee cases and 43 deaths among six unnamed facilities.

Forest County, the state said, stands at 120 resident cases, 26 employee cases and 24 deaths at one unnamed facility.

– Statewide data on nursing and personal care facilities shows there are now 68,126 resident cases and 13,560 cases among employees for a total of 81,686 cases at 1,560 distinct facilities in all 67 counties.

– The state said there are a total of 12,632 deaths that have been reported from nursing and personal care facilities.

Area Health systems

– Butler Health System on Wednesday reported Clarion Hospital had collected 12,189 specimens for COVID-19 testing through Tuesday, including 10,321 tests at the hospital’s outdoor collection site. A total of 1,944 tests were positive for the virus.

As of Wednesday, the hospital has one confirmed COVID-19 in-patient.

Vaccinations

– Of the 4,179,220 doses of vaccine allocated through March 13, the state said, 3,128,637 inoculations (partial and full) have been administered. They include 10,210 in Venango County, 12,453 in Clarion County and 2,272 in Forest County.
