Clarion state police struck by stolen motorcycle

Two state troopers and a state police vehicle were struck by a 35-year-old man on a motorcycle Friday, according to Clarion state police.
Clarion state police were attempting to locate a stolen 2010 Kawasawki motorcycle around 1 p.m. Friday when they found Anthony J. Greenawalt, of Kersey, on the bike at a Kwik Fill gas station in Monroe Township. Police asked Greenawalt to shut the bike off and he refused, attempting to flea from the scene. In his attempt to flee, Greenawalt struck two troopers and a police vehicle.

Greenawalt continued to resist arrest and was taken into custody after a civilian helped police at the scene.

Police suspected that Greenawalt was under the influence of a controlled substance and transported him to Clarion Hospital. The two troopers struck by the bike were taken and treated for injuries. They were both released from the hospital.

Clarion state police discovered that Greenawalt also had a bench warrant in Elk County and placed him in the Clarion County Jail. Numerous charges have been filed and Greenawalt was arraigned in District Court 18-3-02 and remains in jail on $50,000 bail.
