Whitney has been the president at Clarion since 2010, when she was appointed by the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education.

Florida Gulf Coast’s website has a list of the 10 remaining candidates and their application materials. The candidates’ interviews will be available for viewing on the website along with a timeline for the selection process.

Whitney’s interview is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. Friday.

The new president will be confirmed Jan. 27.

“I love Clarion and will always consider myself a Golden Eagle. That said, I am intrigued by the idea of taking what I’ve learned here and throughout my 35-year career in higher education to benefit an entirely new university and group of students,” Whitney said of the possibility of her new job.

“Should a decision to that effect be reached, I’ll be the first to share the news,” Whitney said.

The Clarion University website credits Whitney with developing and supporting the university’s very successful leadership team, among other accomplishments.

Florida Gulf Coast president Wilson Bradshaw is retiring next year.

The university was established as the tenth institution in the State University System of Florida, and it first opened for students in 1997.
