Clarion man accused of multiple counts of rape

A 32-year-old Clarion man faces more than 120 sexual assault-related charges stemming from alleged attacks on a 37-year-old Clarion woman between 2011 and 2016.

Kenneth Wayne Rudolph is charged with 40 counts each of rape and involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, all as first-degree felonies; 20 counts of sexual assault as a second-degree felony; 20 counts of false imprisonment as a second-degree misdemeanor; and one count each of bigamy and simple assault, both as second-degree misdemeanors.

According to court documents, the woman told Clarion police the assaults almost always occurred when Rudolph was intoxicated.

The victim told police Rudolph would return home from drinking and expect to have sex with her, the documents said. The woman said if she failed to comply, Rudolph would threaten her or physically force her to engage in sexual acts without her consent.

The woman told police she attempted to avoid the encounters by pretending to be asleep or by going to another part of the home, but Rudolph would restrain her and force her to perform acts he saw while watching pornographic movies, according to the documents.

The victim, the documents said, told police many of the encounters left her with injuries and terrified for her safety.

During the investigation, the documents said, police determined Rudolph was married to a woman in Alabama in 1998 and to a woman in California in 2001. Rudolph allegedly married a Clarion woman in 2011.

The documents said Rudolph told police he left the wife in Alabama due to “incompatible” lifestyles. Rudolph told police he believed the woman in Alabama was going to divorce from him, but apparently never did so.

According to the documents, Rudolph said he married the California woman but didn’t believe it was valid because the woman “cheated on him with the minister later that same day.”

Police allege, according to records and by the admission of Rudolph, he has been married three times but has no recorded divorces in any state.

Rudolph denied forcing the Clarion woman to have sex with him and also denied ever physically harming her, the documents said.

Rudolph was arraigned on the charges Aug. 25 by District Judge Duane Quinn and placed in Clarion County Jail in lieu of $20,000 cash bond.

Rudolph is scheduled for a Sept. 8 preliminary hearing.
