Clarion County’s second recycling day of 2020 will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 17, at Clarion County Park near Shippenville.
Anyone bringing electronics, household hazardous waste and universal waste items must pre-register. Items not emptied and cleaned will not be accepted. Items not listed as acceptable will be refused.
The event is open to residents along with small businesses with fewer than 50 employees.
Also accepted will be white goods, (washers, dryers, dishwashers, stoves, etc.) with no freon. Scrap metal items and greeting cards (covers only) will be accepted.
There are fees for electronic items. For devices with tubes there will be a 60-cent-per-pound fee. All other electronics are 40 cents per pound.
Electronics include desktop computers, laptops, desk printers, scanners, FAX machines, stereo CD, DVD, Blue Ray, VCR and eight-track tape players, microwave ovens, cellphones, telephones, console televisions, non CRT TVs and monitors.
Oil-based and latex paint will be assessed a fee of 75 cents per pound. Household hazardous waste including bleach, household cleaning products, stain, thinner, finishes, gas, diesel, kerosene, additives, wood, metal cleaners, polishes, pesticides, herbicides and fungicides will be charged $1 per pound.
Universal waste including common batteries, incandescents, compacts, fluorescent bulbs, HID, sodium and mercury vapor lamps will be assessed a 75-cents-per-pound fee.
Small freon-containing devices will be charged 65 cents per pound and propane tanks $8 each.
