Clarion County recycling day set

Clarion County will hold a recycling day from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, June 6, at the Clarion County Park in Shippenville.

Paper, plastic, metal and glass items will be collected.

Other items that can be taken to the collection site include washers and dryers, dishwashers, stoves, scrap metal, electronic items, paint, household hazardous waste, batteries, bulbs and propane tanks.

Items must be empty and clean in order to be accepted.

Residents who plan to take electronic items, household hazardous waste items and universal waste items to the recycling event must pre-register by calling (866) 815-0016 or going online to www.ecsr.net/recycling-events. There will be a fee charged for these items. Here is a breakdown of the costs (per pound):

– Cathode ray tube TVs and monitors – 60 cents

– All other electronics, which includes computers, printers, scanners, fax machines, copiers, speakers, keyboards, stereos, tape players, microwaves, cellphones and more – 40 cents

– Paint (oil-based and latex) – 75 cents

– Household hazardous waste, which includes bleach, cleaning products, adhesives and glue, stains, thinners, gas, diesel, kerosene, polishes, pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, car wax, antifreeze, oil, pool and spa chemicals and more – $1

– Universal waste – batteries, incandescent bulbs, fluorescent bulbs, sodium and mercury vapor lamps, lantern batteries, spot lamps, neon and UV lamps and more – 75 cents

– Small freon-containing devices – 65 cents

– Propane tanks – $8 each
