Clarion County adds to virus total

The state Department of Health announced Friday that Clarion County has two new cases of COVID-19, one confirmed and one probable, bringing the total to 100 cases (90 confirmed and 10 probable).

Venango County, the state said, holds at 72 total cases (56 confirmed and 16 probable). Forest County is firm at 14 cases (11 confirmed and three probable).

Crawford County, the state said, reported two new confirmed cases. The county now has 222 total cases (195 confirmed and 27 probable).

Mercer County, the state said, reported three new confirmed cases and two additional probable cases.

The county now has 565 total cases (492 confirmed and 73 probable).

The state on Friday reported 891 new statewide positive cases, 269 less than the number of additional cases reported Thursday, raising the total to 137,662 (133,731 confirmed and 3,931 probable). There are 9,813 cases among health care workers.

Fewer than 1,000 additional cases have been reported in 114 of the past 124 days.

Statewide there were 10 new deaths reported, according to the state, raising the total to 7,742.

Care facilities

– A nursing and personal care facilities chart, which is updated daily by the state, continues to show 15 resident cases, 15 employee cases and one death in three unnamed facilities in Clarion County.

The same chart continues to show five resident cases and fewer than five employee cases at one unnamed facility in Venango County.

To date, there have been no nursing and personal care facilities COVID-19 cases reported from Forest County.

– Statewide data on nursing and personal care facilities show there are now 21,307 resident cases and 4,564 cases among employees for a total of 25,871 at 942 distinct facilities in 61 counties.

– The state said 17 new deaths were reported from nursing and personal care facilities, pushing the statewide total to 5,235.

Recovery rate and testing

– The state on Friday reported a statewide recovery rate of 82%, which is up 1% from what was reported Thursday.

– The number of statewide tests administered between Aug. 28 and Thursday is 159,676, including 5,615 positive results, according to the state.

– The number of people in the tri-county area who have tested negative for the virus, the state said, is 7,552. Statewide, there have been 1,576,879 people who have tested negative.

Area health systems

– Clarion Hospital reported the hospital had collected 4,827 specimens for COVID-19 testing through Thursday, including 3818 tests obtained at the hospital’s out door testing facility. A total of 97 tests were positive for the virus.

The hospital has one COVID-19 in-patient and no patients with COVID-19 in the ICU.
