The Clarion Rotary Club recognized 12 Clarion County high school seniors for attending the 2017 Rotary Youth Leadership Awards program or RYLA at their meeting Sept. 23. The annual RYLA program was held at Westminster University for one week in June with more than 100 Western Pennsylvania seniors attending.

RYLA is a week-long leadership school that trains youths to be leaders in their schools and communities, and to demonstrate the Rotary principles of “Service Above Self.” RYLA was founded in Austria in 1959 and came to Westminster College in 1983. RYLA is funded my local Rotary Clubs and is free to students. High school juniors are selected in the spring by high school guidance counselors to attend RYLA.
