Clarion Co. commissioners appoint election board members

Clarion County commissioners on Tuesday replaced themselves on the county election board in preparation for the May primary election.

The three commissioners – Ted Tharan, Wayne Brosius and Ed Heasley – are running for re-election, and that precludes them from sitting on the election board.

On Tuesday, the commissioners appointed Judy Fiscus, Karen Knepshield and Nancy Kadunce to serve on the election board.

The three will be compensated $250 apiece for both the primary and general elections.

In other business at Tuesday’s commissioners meeting, it was announced that the new contract with Children and Youth Services Department employees has led to several changes.

The CYS positions will be changed to 40 hours, and the deputy director position will remain at 35 hours.

The commissioners were negotiating Tuesday with the county’s sheriff’s deputies, and the county is continuing to negotiate with the jail guards and court-related employees.

The commissioners approved several changes in the G.I.S. department.

The salary board created the position of GIS director, which is a full-time position with a salary range between $31,000 and $38,500. The position of GIS specialist was also created and has a salary range between $12 and $15 an hour.

The salary board also created the position of director of assessment, which is a full-time position with a salary range between $34,000 and $42,750.

The commissioners also awarded Clarion County a $5,500 grant from the hotel tax fund.
