CLARION – The Clarion County Career Center completed its annual Coins for a Cure campaign in conjunction with the center’s Cancer Awareness Month.

Director Aaron Kline challenged the students to raise at least $2,500, and the total collected was $3,036. Five years of donations from the center to the Cancer Center have totaled more than $13,000.

Once again, Kline lost the challenge to the students which resulted in Kline and welding instructor Brad Hoover playing a game of Egg Roulette. The game involved choosing from a dozen eggs where eight eggs are hard-boiled and four eggs are raw. Each person takes a turn choosing an egg and smashing it on their head. The person who smashes two raw eggs loses the game.

Two assemblies were held so that the morning session students and the afternoon students could watch Kline “pay up” on losing the challenge.

The results from the morning egg challenge were Kline, two raw eggs; and Hoover, zero.

The afternoon session assembly didn’t bring any better luck to Kline, who again chose two raw eggs with Hoover luckily choosing no raw eggs again.

But Hoover did not get away egg-free as the two remaining raw eggs were smashed on his head, with the help of two co-workers.

Also in attendance for the assemblies were Tracy Myers and Tiffany Chambers from the Clarion Hospital Cancer Center. Myers spoke to the students about how their donations are used to help those who are fighting cancer.

The monies raised were donated to the Clarion Sunshine Project at the Cancer Center.
