Clarion Career Center holds senior recognition program

The Clarion County Career Center held its annual senior recognition program Tuesday at the Clarion Area Junior-Senior High School auditorium.

Top seniors in each program were selected by their instructors and awarded $200. In some cases, they received additional prizes related to their programs of study.

Becca Smith, a Keystone student of allied health science, received the Joseph and Helen Miller Scholarship of $1,000 by Mindy Gatesman of the Clarion Hospital board of directors. Smith was also received the $500 Most Outstanding Student award.

Keaton Minich, a Redbank Valley student of diesel technology, received the Michael and Marie Zacherl Outstanding Diesel Technology Student award and was offered full-time employment at Zacherl Motors after graduation.

Robert Burkett, a North Clarion student of welding and fabrication, received the $50 Most Improved Student award.

The Thomas B. Burkhardt Rotary Scholarships of $500 each were presented to Erika Romo, a Clarion-Limestone student, and Taylor Boots, a Union student, both in the allied health science program. This scholarship is presented to a graduating senior who displays exemplary achievement on the job site.

Autumn Rapp, a Keystone student of police science received a $300 Rotary District 7280 Outstanding Vocational Student Award .

Bryanna Dailey, a Clarion-Limestone student in the cosmetology program, received the Ron Perry Volunteerism award of $500.

The Odd Fellows Home of Western PA provided two citizenship scholarships. A $500 School-to-Work award was presented to Seth Nellis, a Clarion Area student of construction technology, and a $600 Continuing Education award was presented to Linzy Fuesler, a Clarion-Limestone student of culinary arts.
