From staff reports

The Cancer Center at Clarion Hospital, part of Independence Health System, reaches a 20-year milestone this month.

In celebration, as well as honoring survivors and remembering people lost to cancer, the center will hold a Light Up Night & Backyard BBQ at the Clarion Eagles Pavilion, 81 Stonehouse Road, Clarion, from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday.

Patients, caregivers and community members are invited. In addition to food, there will be games and entertainment.

A photo display board will be set up to honor survivors, those lost to cancer and community supporters. Attendees are encouraged to bring a photo to display or to drop it off at Clarion Hospital Cancer Center, 150 Doctors Lane, Clarion.

The center, which opened in 2003, offers treatment options, surgical innovations and therapy options to patients undergoing various cancer care treatments. The outpatient facility provides medical oncology services by specialized staff certified in the administration of chemotherapy.

The center also offers radiation therapy treatments and is an APEx accredited program through the American College for Radiation Oncology.
