Clarion board gives Carrico four-year contract

Clarion Area School Board made things official Tuesday by awarding Joe Carrico a four-year contract as the district’s superintendent.

The board unanimously approved the contract that set Carrico’s salary at $120,000. The contract is effective May 1 and runs through June 30, 2023.

Carrico, the former Oil City School District superintendent, has been serving as interim superintendent at Clarion since Jan. 2.

The contract contains several changes from the existing superintendent’s contract.

One change is the payment for unused vacation days as the district will pay the superintendent for unused days of vacation leave not to exceed $10,000. In addition, the unused portion of personal leave shall be converted to days of vacation.

Stricken from the new contract was language that would have reimbursed Carrico for his moving expenses. Carrico resides in the Oil City area and will not be required to move into Clarion School District.

There were other minor changes in the contract.
