Cause not known in New Bethlehem fire

From staff reports

A state police fire marshal was unable to determine the cause of Monday’s fire at a home in the 600 block of Lafayette Street in New Bethlehem.

New Bethlehem Fire Chief Barry Fox requested fire marshal assistance in determining the origin and cause of the blaze that damaged the three-story wood-frame home, police said.

The fire originated in the attic area, but the exact cause couldn’t be determined, police said.

There were no injuries, and police estimated the damage to be about $100,000.

Departments responded at about 2:40 p.m. Monday to the initial call that indicated there were people working on the roof and the fire was in the attic.

A Clarion County 911 dispatcher said there was no entrapment and no injuries.
