Brookville man faces charges for striking child

A Brookville man accused of striking a child is facing felony aggravated assault charges.

Brandon Motter, 26, admitted to police he struck the child while he was babysitting, Brookville police said.

Motter said he became upset with the infant due to the child’s screaming, according to police.

The 13-month-old child was taken to the Penn Highlands Brookville hospital emergency room for bruising and bleeding on Thursday, prompting an investigation by police into possible child abuse, police said

Motter has been charged with two felony counts of aggravated assault-victim less than 6 and defendant 18 or older, two felony counts of aggravated assault-victim less than 13 years and defendant 18 or older, two misdemeanor counts of simple assault, misdemeanor counts of recklessly endangering another person and endangering the welfare of children-parent/guardian/other commits offense, and three summary harassment charges.
