Area students attend ROVA Leadership Conference

Ten students from the Clarion County Career Center participated in the 12th Annual ROVA (Rotary Outstanding Vocational Award) Leadership Conference on March 6 and 7 at McKeever Learning Center in Sandy Lake.

ROVA is an intensive educational program for vocational youth leaders that are in their junior year of high school. Young people chosen for their potential attend this leadership camp to learn and enhance skills in team work, leadership and communications through effective practice.

Students participating were:

Margaret Taylor – Culinary Arts and Hospitality (North Clarion)

Doug Hopper – Diesel Technology (Redbank Valley)

Jasmine Wiser and Caitlin Wyant – Allied Health Science (Union)

Tiffany Skinner – Police Science (Clarion-Limestone)

Jenna Hawk – Welding & Fabrication (Keystone)

Jessica MacPherson & Brianna Hilbert – Police Science (Keystone)

McKenna LaVan – Cosmetology Styling Academy (Clarion Area)

Mariah Sneed – Allied Health Science (A-C Valley)

The students will also speak at the Clarion Rotary meeting in April.

The students were chaperoned by Career Center staff members Kelly Schrecengost, Suzie Walters and Rotarians’ Frank Magagnotti and Tracy Becker. There were a total of 89 juniors representing 42 Rotary clubs in District 7280. The students got involved in many leadership, networking and team building events. They were also entertained by a hypnosis show.
