Apartment complex fire ruled accidental

From staff reports

The cause of a fire that destroyed an apartment complex in Clarion County on March 23 has been determined as an accident, according to the Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshall Unit.

Police said radiant heat from the chimney system of furnaces that were used to heat domestic hot water ignited the fire, which originated in an attached garage to the rear of the Corcetti Apartments, 435 S. Second Ave., Monroe Township.

Some of the tenants of the complex had renter’s insurance while others had no personal belongings insurance, police said.
