Additional Marcellus gas well work planned in Clarion Co.

EXCO Resources, LLC. informed Clarion County commissioners of plans to drill additional Marcellus gas well pads in Redbank Township. EXCO will be applying for coverage under the Erosion and Sediment Control General Permit for the existing Marcellus gas well pad and will construct new post construction stormwater controls. The project is estimated to take up 24 acres of land.

Commissioners Wayne Brosius, Ed Heasley, and Ted Tharan announced Brady Ion as Clarion County’s employee of the month. Ion is one of two members of the Clarion County Information Technology Department. The commissioners extended a sincere thanks to Ion for his hard work and dedication within the IT department.

Commissioner Tharan announced that following review from the county buildings and grounds committee the commissioners are looking into the possibility of acquiring a building for the purpose of relocating and/or updating department offices. Tharan said new statements will be announced soon regarding the committee review. The buildings and grounds advisory committee meeting will take place on May 6 at 8 a.m. The location is to be announced.

In other news:

— Mary Louise Logue, of Sligo, and Bryan Huwar, of Summerville, were reappointed to the board of assessment appeals for another four-year term beginning April 7. Eugene Lerch, of Clarion, was appointed to the board as a replacement for previous board member David Speer, of Clarion.

— Shannon Kumer will be filling the vacant Caseworker I position at Clarion County Children and Youth Services, effective May 10 as announced during the Clarion County’s Salary Board Meeting. Kumer will be joined by Brianna Bailey who will be filling the vacant Caseworker II position effective May 10.

— A proclamation presented to the commissioners declared May as Older Americans Month and May 4 as Clarion County Firefighter’s Day. A dedication ceremony will be held for the Clarion County Firefighters Memorial on May 4 at 7 p.m on the courthouse lawn.

— The next Commissioners and Salary Board meeting will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday, May 10, in the Commissioners conference room.
