Acorn History, Harvesting and Preparation program

An Acorn History, Harvesting and Preparation program will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, at Cook Forest State Park.   Adam Haritan from learnyourland.com and foragingpittsburgh.com will present a program that will cover acorn gathering tips or how to separate the good from the bad, the differences between red and white oak groups which is important for processing, several leaching methods, drying and storing methods, nutritional benefits and more.  The program begins at the Fire Tower parking lot.   More information is available by calling (814) 744-8407.
