A kinder gentler bot

Christian Life Academy student Hannah Mayrant, of Knox, works with a teammate to steer the robotic team’s “bot” through a course designed to test the robot’s ability to perform several tasks. The team was the Clarion Mall on Oct. 28 to demonstrate their robot’s abilities and to possibly spark the interest of younger children partaking in Halloween events. Hannah explained the CLA bot is kinder and gentler than other local bots as it gently removes “Manny” the mannequin from the course, in contrast to other bots which grab “Manny” by the head and drag him out. “We try to be nice,” said Mayrant. The CLA robotics team finished seventh at a recent competition at Grove City and qualified for national competitions in December in North Dakota. (Submitted photo)
