4 transported by helicopter following 3-vehicle crash

Four people were transported by helicopter following a three-vehicle crash on Interstate 80 in Clarion County Saturday, emergency personnel said.

The crash, involving an SUV and two tractor-trailers, occurred at about 4:30 p.m. on the on-ramp of exit 53, westbound near Knox, emergency personnel said.

Three air ambulances landed at nearby Wolfs Camping Resort and transported patients to various Pittsburgh trauma hospitals, a paramedic on scene said.

Clarion County 911 said that in all four helicopters transported the injured to hospitals.

The two tractor-trailer drivers were not injured, according to emergency personnel.

Clarion state police were assisted at the scene by Knox Volunteer Fire Department, Knox, Clarion Hospital and Emlenton ambulances as well as STAT MedEvac and LifeFlight, 911 said.

No other details were available as of Sunday evening.
