2nd bald eaglet hatches in Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Eaglet number two has emerged in Pittsburgh.

The Audubon Society of Western Pennsylvania says the second eaglet of the season from three eggs laid last month hatched at about 9:40 p.m. Tuesday. The bald eagles nesting in the city’s Hays neighborhood are expected to welcome a third eaglet later this week.

The first eaglet hatched early Monday.

This is the fourth year in the city for the bald eagles nesting on a bluff above the Monongahela River. Ornithologists say they’re the first eagles to nest in the city in at least a century and a half.
