2 people flown to hospital after I-80 crash

From staff reports

A portion of Interstate 80 in Jefferson County was closed for several hours Friday following a multi-vehicle accident.

DuBois state police said a tractor-trailer was disabled near mile marker 80.2 just before 8:30 a.m. when a vehicle operated by Sumett Gill of Northampton County came to an abrupt stop because another vehicle was partially blocking the roadway.

Harold Allison III of Canton, Ohio, was the driver of the second vehicle, police said.

Gill attempted to merge into the left lane and collided with Allison’s vehicle, police said.

Allison and a passenger in his vehicle were flown to a local hospital by STAT MedEvac for medical treatment, police said.

Jefferson County EMS, Pine Creek and Brookville volunteer firefighters and Brookville police also assisted at the scene.

Police said their investigation is continuing.
