1 killed, 2 hurt in Clarion County crash

From staff reports

One person died and two people were injured in a two-vehicle crash Friday evening on Forest Road in Farmington Township, Clarion County.

Marienville state police said one person was driving south and a man was driving north at about 9:10 p.m.

The southbound vehicle struck the northbound vehicle head-on after the driver in the southbound vehicle tried to negotiate a slight right curve and crossed the center lines, police said.

The southbound vehicle came to a final stop facing south in the northbound lane and the northbound vehicle came to a final stop facing north while resting on the eastern berm, police said.

Clarion County Coroner Daniel Shingledecker pronounced the person in the southbound vehicle dead at the scene, police said.

The driver of the northbound vehicle suffered an injury to his left foot and was transported to Clarion Hospital by New Bethlehem Emergency Medical Service, and a female passenger in that vehicle suffered an injury to her lower back, the severity of which is unknown, police said.

The woman was transported by Life Flight helicopter to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, police said.
